Brian Cretzmeyer Trust for Young Musicians

The Brian Cretzmeyer Trust for Young Musicians is dedicated to providing access to quality music instruction for children-- especially those who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

The Pre-College Piano Conservatory at the University of Iowa School of Music, under the guidance of Dr. Alan Huckleberry; the Preucil School of Music; the Iowa City Community School District Foundation; and the West Family Foundation at West Music are some of the programs we currently support.

The BCTYM looks for opportunities to match young people with a mentoring environment which will nurture their talent to create music.

Brian Francis Cretzmeyer was born June 29, 1979, in Iowa City, Iowa. He began playing the piano at the age of three and at age four, he began formal piano lessons. For the next 25 years, until his untimely death at age 29 due to cancer, he entertained and inspired others with his music.

Brian was a talented musician and artist, but his greatest passion was playing the piano. He was co-founding member of his band, The Gglitch with whom he played for ten years. The Brian Cretzmeyer Trust for Young Musicians serves as a living legacy to commemorate the life and musical spirit of Brian, while enriching children's lives through music.

Please join us at the Mill on Friday, September 7, 2018 for the sixth annual BrianFest dedicated to providing children access to music education!
